12 South Asian young men were involved in attack with swords and bats in Brampton

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police on Tuesday confirmed to The VOICE that the December 14 attack with swords and bats on two people in Brampton was carried out by South Asian young men. However, police didn’t say if they were international students.

The victims were a 21-year-old man from Brampton and a 20-year-old woman from Brampton. They both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital, Constable Sarah Patten said.

Police investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle that fled the scene of the large fight that occurred on December 14 at approximately 1:05 a.m. Police were called to the area of Ruth Avenue and Kennedy Road in relation to a large group of males that were fighting on the roadway.

Investigation revealed that two people were walking in the area and were assaulted by several males who used swords and bats. A black or dark coloured Jeep Wrangler with damage to the front windshield was seen fleeing the area, almost striking several people in the process.

Soon after, police identified those involved and arrested and charged 12 men from Brampton with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. All were released and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.

Investigators have been attempting to locate a black or dark coloured Jeep Wrangler with damage to the front windshield and are asking the public for their assistance. Police do not have a photo of the vehicle.

  1. [If they are not citizens] deport them all. It is a privilege to live in Canada, not a right. Based on their past actions they are unlikely to be positive contributors to this country.
