CHARGES have been approved stemming from a child exploitation investigation.

The Port Moody Police Department received information in the Spring of 2025, alleging a vulnerable youth had been sexually exploited by an adult male within the Lower Mainland. 

Officers launched an investigation which ultimately led to the arrest of a 58-year-old North Vancouver man, Majid Talebi. On August 11, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges against Talebi: one count of invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16 years and two counts of telecommunication to lure a child under 16 years.

“This was a very complex and sensitive investigation carried out by our Major Crime Section which included a tandem civil forfeiture process,” says Constable Sam Zacharias, adding: “Detectives worked diligently over the past year to collect evidence and bring this matter before the courts.”

The Court has ordered a publication ban prohibiting the publication of any information that could identify the victim.
