ALERT believes there are additional victims in Alberta, who may have been reluctant to come forward at the time
THE Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) announced on Friday that charges have been laid against a sex trade worker, Jessica Kane, for allegedly drugging and robbing at least one Calgary victim.
Kane is charged with robbery, overcome resistance by administering a drug, and four counts of breach of a release order. ALERT’s Human Trafficking unit alleges that the 31-year-old woman committed these offences while on bail for similar charges in British Columbia.
Kane is currently in custody in British Columbia and is in the middle of court proceedings for similar offences that took place in that jurisdiction. An Alberta warrant was granted on September 29 and will be summarily executed at a later date.
The Calgary offences allegedly took place in October 2022 when Kane was purportedly working in the Calgary sex-trade. A Calgary man reported to police that he was drugged and robbed by a woman he met on a sex-trade website.
ALERT’s nearly year-long investigation revealed that Kane was suspected of working in the Calgary area between October and December 2022, in contravention of her bail conditions. ALERT believes there are additional victims in Alberta, who may have been reluctant to come forward at the time.
Kane would have used one of her aliases, which may have included: Claudia, Maria, Kara, Kimmy, Bambi, Ava, Lexa, Hazel, Honey, Mia, Becca, Angel, Heidi, Meghan, Natalie and Alexis.

Kane was first arrested by Surrey RCMP in September 2022 and charged with a series of alleged druggings and a manslaughter offence. Court-imposed release conditions forbade her from engaging in sex trade work.
ALERT said it received assistance on the investigation from the Calgary Police Service, Surrey RCMP, Pitt Meadows RCMP, and the RCMP Forensic Laboratory.
