Shah Rukh Khan makes a dramatic appearance.

THEY waited for hours: some patient, some restless, some angry. But in the end they came out of the show totally blown away by SLAM – The Tour.

“I have seen hundreds of Bollywood shows, but this was surely the most entertaining. It was so good that people forgot about the delay hassles,” one concert goer told The VOICE.

The show on Saturday night was delayed by a few hours because Chicago’s busy O’Hare and Midway airports were among the hardest hit after an Illinois air traffic control center shut down after a fire and attempted suicide there Friday.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Facebook comment: “In Vancouver…SLAM may have a start delay as Chicago flights gone off schedule. Do bear with us. Der hogi Andher nahi!”

In a later comment: “Vancouver get ready to be Slammed!!! So many memories of this pretty city…desperate to do our best SLAM JAM tonite.”

Singer Yo Yo Honey Singh will not be performing for any more SLAM shows. His spokesperson said: “We regret to inform you that Honey Singh unfortunately will not be able to perform for the Slam! shows in Chicago, Vancouver and San Jose dated Sep 26, Sep 27 and Sep 28 respectively since he slipped and has injured himself. Doctors have advised him complete rest.”

SHAH Rukh Khan, the reigning star of Hindi cinema, is all set to embark on World tour with the “Happy New Year” team. He says he is doing it to entertain audiences and not for his own interest or advantage.

Madhuri Dixit, Malaika Arora Khan, singers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Kanika Kapoor will join Shah Rukh’s entourage for SLAM tour, starting September 19 in Houston.
“World tour is not a selfish show, it’s for the viewers. We are going to entertain them,” SRK told when asked about the details of the show by reporters at the music launch of “Happy New Year” Monday.
Other than SRK, the starry cast of Farah Khan’s directorial “Happy New Year” includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
“We will be performing on songs from ‘Happy New Year’ and on our other famous songs as well. Boman and Farah will do a special performance ‘Darde disco’ with their six pack abs (laughs),” added the superstar.
Farah and Boman had romanced each other in 2012 release “Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.”

BOLLYWOOD superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be on stage for more than an hour on September 27 at Vancouver’s SLAM – The Tour at the PNE Coliseum. That is the longest time ever that SRK will have been on stage in any concert or world tour, said Rana Atwal, one of the show promoters, at a press conference on Saturday.

This will be the longest ever live performance at a Bollywood concert people have ever seen in North America, Atwal added.

The promoters, DBR Entertainment, announced that tickets are selling fast and people from as far as Montreal, Toronto and Halifax are coming to take in this  extravaganza.

However, some of the fans are complaining that during the TOIFA celebration last year, ticket prices were reduced at the last minute and people fear that this practice will be followed this time also.

However, Atwal made it very clear that ticket prices will not be reduced no matter what. He added: “Fans should not wait to buy the tickets till the last minute in the hope that prices will be reduced. Price of the tickets will remain the same.”

Another first for a Bollywood concert in North America will be the spectacular moving LED panels as part of the light show. Extensive use of pyrotechnics and numerous special effects will be the highlights of the show and fans will experience the best in Bollywood show entertainment. What is more, promoters are donating a partial amount from the sale of tickets to BC Children’s Hospital.

Also for the first time in the history of Indian entertainment in Canada, a mainstream company has come on board to sell tickets for a Bollywood blockbuster show. Save on Foods, Canada’s premier retail outlet, is selling tickets all across Canada for SLAM-The Tour featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishekh Bachan, Malaika Arora Khan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivian Shah, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Kanika Kapoor.

When it is all about Shah Rukh Khan, extravagance is obvious. He has huge fan base and people from all communities love him. However, the Punjabi community is also eagerly waiting for the heartthrob of the youngsters, Yo Yo Honey Singh and ‘Village friend’ Sonu Sood, noted the promoters.

Other major companies that have joined hands include Thind Properties, Monarch Media ventures, AMC Insurance, Select Pizza group, Mother’s Recipe, Gits, Tej Oils, Bikaji, Frontier Bakery, and Chandan Mouth freshness products.

Tickets are available online at ticketleader.ca and sulekha.com. Tickets can be purchased in person from Patna Sweets, Mehta Video and Prince Video in Abbottsford;  Shaz Video in Burnaby; Ravi  Video and Kamal’s Video in Surrey; Main Video in Vancouver; from Rajdeep Sangha (604-764-0397) in West Vancouver;  and select Save on Foods stores. People can also redeem Save On points to buy the tickets.
