THAI Police are reported to have gathered enough evidence to get arrests warrants for the alleged killers of Indian gangster Jimi Sandhu who was gunned down in Rawai, Phuket, on February 4, The Phuket Times is reporting.
Thai Police on Saturday contacted Interpol to request a Red Notice in 195 nations.
The suspects have been identified as Canadian nationals Gene Karl Lahrkamp, 36, and Matthew Leandre Ovide Dupre, 36. Arrest warrants have been issued for them. One is believed to have served in the ‘military’ although police didn’t provide any further details, according to Thai media.
(Lahrkamp is 193 cm tall, weighs 95 kg and has green eyes and brown hair. He was born in Canada on December 21, 1985. Dupre was born in Canada on November 19, 1985. Both have been described as “armed, dangerous, escape risk, suicidal, violent”.)
The two flew from Phuket to Bangkok and left Suvarnabhumi Airport on February 6, with Dupre flying to Amsterdam and Lahrkamp to Frankfurt.
According to thethaiger.com, the suspects are being pursued over charges of “colluding in murder, murder, illegal possession of a weapon and discharging an illegal firearm in a public place”.
The two guns that Thai Police recovered from the shallow waters off Rawai beach by using metal detectors — a CZ 9mm semi-automatic pistol and a Walther 9mm fully automatic — were registered to Thai nationals, a retired policeman and a soldier. Police are now pursuing the two for questioning.
Phuket Police spokesperson Kissana Pattanacharoen claimed that the suspected gunmen were identified “through confessions of some gang members who were arrested earlier”, according to Khaosod English.
