SHORTLY after 10 p.m. on Thursday, a man in his 40s was shot in the 6100-block of McKee Avenue. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but succumbed to his injuries.
CTV News reported that a resident told them that they heard a scream and then an injured man knocked at their door, pleading for help.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Sgt. Frank Jang told the media that it is too early to say that this is gang-related, however, early indications are that it is not. The victim had had some interactions with police.
He was later identified as Neal Pratap, 44.
Jang said the shooting was random, but it is too early to say it was targeted. Police believe that the victim met with somebody and shots were fired following an altercation.
The suspect left the scene on foot and may have got into a vehicle. The Integrated Police Dog Service was called in to comb the area, but the suspect couldn’t be tracked down.
