ON Tuesday, September 22 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Maple Ridge RCMP were notified by Maple Ridge Fire Services of a residential structure fire in the 21400-block of 123 Avenue.
Officers attended and assisted firefighters with traffic and public safety measures and maintaining scene security while fire suppression efforts continued.
One deceased individual was located within the residence. The identity of the individual has not been confirmed.
While there is no information to suggest the fire is suspicious, the investigation is in its early stages and all potential causes remain under consideration.
Officers are actively working with fire investigators and the BC Coroners Service.
No further information will be released at this time, police said.
