ONTARIO: Canada-wide warrant issued for Pawan Malik in fatal Brampton collision

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police on Thursday announced that investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a fail to remain collision that occurred in the City of Mississauga and claimed the life of a Brampton woman.

On Sunday, February 20, 24-year-old Kavita Chodhary was beginning to cross Cattrick Street from Derry Road East when she was struck by a dark coloured vehicle. The vehicle and occupant fled the scene and did not stop to render any assistance to the victim.

Investigators have located and seized the vehicle involved, a black 2009 Honda Accord.

The man alleged to have committed this offence has been identified as 19-year-old Pawan Malik of the City of Brampton. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for failure to stop after accident resulting in death.

Investigators have confirmed that Malik fled the country soon after the incident. When he is located, the Crown intends to seek his extradition so that he may be prosecuted for the alleged offences, police said.
