ONTARIO: Peel Regional Police arrest 2 South Asians, seek warrant for a third after Brampton shooting

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police investigators have arrested two South Asians and issued a warrant for a third man after a shooting in the City of Brampton.

On Monday, June 20 just after 11 p.m., police were called to the area of Sandalwood Parkway and Chinguacousy Road in Brampton for reports of gun fire. Officers located a 20-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a trauma centre and is currently in stable condition. The investigation identified three men allegedly involved in the incident.

* Alexander Maharaj, an 18-year-old man from Brampton, is charged with accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence, and attempted murder using firearm.
* Rithushan Kumarathasan, a 19-year-old man from Brampton, is charged with accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence.

* A warrant is being sought for the arrest of Harnoor Thind, a 20-year-old man from Brampton.

Police said Thind is encouraged to speak with legal counsel, and make arrangements to surrender himself to them.
