ON Friday, December 22 at 5:53 am, Surrey RCMP received a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of 176 Street at 64 Avenue. The victim was treated by BC Ambulance Service and transported to Royal Columbian Hospital with critical injuries.

The southbound traffic on 176 Street from 64 Avenue is closed until further notice.

Traffic in the area will be affected for an undetermined amount of time as investigators process the scene.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has been called out to assist with the investigation. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in this incident.

The investigation is in the early stages and investigators are speaking with witnesses to identify all factors that led to this collision.
