RCMP deliberately snubbed Premier and Solicitor General by giving Locke front row seat!
A photo circulating on social media that shows Surrey mayor-elect Benda Locke and Surrey RCMP officer in charge Assistant Commissioner Brian Edwards laughing in an unrestrained manner at Wednesday’s regimental funeral of Burnaby RCMP Constable Shaelyn Yang is causing deep resentment among police officers in B.C.
Decent British Columbians are expressing their shock and disgust at this highly inappropriate behaviour and are demanding an unconditional apology.
Surrey-ites in particular are highly embarrassed.
“This is the woman who said on her election victory night that she was going to make Surrey great. Is this how she is going about it!” said one angry Surrey-ite.
“She is so excited about having achieved her goal of being mayor at all costs that she probably couldn’t help herself!” said another Surrey-ite.
What has angered British Columbians is the shameless manner in which the RCMP snubbed Premier John Horgan and Solicitor General Mike Farnworth by seating Locke in the front row while giving Horgan and Farnworth seats further back.
“This clearly shows Locke is in the RCMP’s pocket,” noted one Surrey-ite.
ONE reader sent a number of questions to The VOICE. Here are some of them:
1) Brenda Locke was clearly a guest of the Surrey RCMP contingent. How is that invite appropriate for a funeral for a fallen Burnaby RCMP officer?
2) Why are Edwards, National Police Federation President Brian Sauvé and Locke joking and carrying on at such a solemn event?
3) They were in the first row, seated very close to the Yang family. The Premier and Solicitor General, however, were seated further back. Why did they make this choice? Was it for a public show in front of the cameras?
