Suspect arrested after female fatally stabbed in residence in Surrey’s Newton (update)

ON December 7 at 9:22 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in the 12700-block of 66 Avenue. Officers located a 40-year-old female in medical distress, resulting from a life-threatening stab wound.

Despite the best efforts of first responders, the woman succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and continues to work closely with Surrey RCMP.

IHIT said that investigators can confirm the victim and suspect were known to each other and that this is an isolated incident. Neither the suspect or the victim were known to police. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, out of concern for the privacy of the family.
