THE Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says it investigated 14 shooting occurrences in the city in the month of February.

Of the 14 reported occurrences, 12 are believed to be targeted and nine of the shootings resulted in injuries.

Compared to February 2023, shooting occurrences were up by 75%, when there were eight reported occurrences for the same period.

Police say public safety continues to be a concern, with 11 of the 14 having the potential for innocent bystanders to be harmed. There were three deaths as a result of shooting occurrences.

Police seized 64 firearms in February, and 139 overall in 2024.
