BETWEEN May 1 and May 12, 37 vehicles were stolen in Abbotsford – and more than a quarter of those were stolen on a single day (May 12).
The vast majority of those vehicles were more than 10 years old and did not have an immobilizer or anti-theft device. Many of the vehicles were stolen from West Abbotsford.
The rest: Fords (13 per cent), Toyotas (11 per cent), Mazdas (5 per cent), Dodge (5 per cent), others (32 per cent).
The Abbotsford Police Department announced on Thursday that they will be out at various locations in Abbotsford providing free anti-theft devices to owners of pre-2002 Honda vehicles and pick-up trucks.
Anyone with information about these incidents should contact the APD at 604-859-5225, text them at 222973 (abbypd) or call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
They tried to steal my 2001 VW Jetta that same night, also on the 12th. They didn’t get my car, just messed up the outer part of the lock. Must have been some kind of a competition or game…unless there it was a special night for thieves.
