SHORTLY before 2:30 p.m. on September 24, a 65-year-old woman was walking her dog near the northwest corner of Moffatt Road and Blundell Road when she was approached by a suspect, a woman possibly in her 30s. The suspect allegedly struck the dog-walker in the face then proceeded to pour some type of beverage over her before fleeing the area on foot.
Both parties were not known to one another. The motive for the attack is unclear. Police were notified of the assault some time later by a family member of the victim.
The suspect is described as a female in her 30s, with dark shoulder-length hair, a gray backpack, blue jacket and dark pants.
“We recognize the effects that a such a crime can have on our community and public safety,” said Inspector Mark Baxter, Operations Officer, Richmond RCMP, on Thursday. “This matter is being treated very seriously and will be investigated fully.”
Richmond RCMP say they are actively investigating this incident and are asking anyone in the community who may have information to contact them and quote file# 2023-30282. This area around Moffatt Road and Blundell Road is known to have a steady flow of pedestrians, vehicles and commuters traveling through it.
