ON December 22, 2024, North Vancouver RCMP received multiple reports that youths had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a volleyball coach while participating in a local volleyball team. Police launched an extensive investigation and spoke to multiple witnesses and victims. A report to the BC Prosecution Service was prepared and submitted.
On July 2, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service formally charged Iraj Mozaffari of North Vancouver with 10 counts, including three counts of sexual interference of a person under 16, two counts of touching a young person for sexual purpose, and five counts of sexual assault. The offences are alleged to have occurred between January 2016 and December 2024.
Publication bans have been ordered by the court regarding the identities of the victims.
“We understand that this news may be upsetting for members of the community and especially for the victims,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak of North Vancouver RCMP. “We would like to thank those that came forward to provide statements. Without their courage, we would not be in the position we are in today.”
