THE petition to recall Dallas Brodie, MLA for Vancouver-Quilchena, has failed, Elections BC announced on Monday. The petition failed to collect the required number of signatures.

In accordance with the Recall and Initiative Act, for the petition to be successful, the proponent was required to collect signatures from more than 40% of the voters who were registered to vote in the MLA’s district on the day the MLA was elected and are currently registered as a voter, or 15,232 eligible signatures.

The proponent has reported submitting 3,663 signatures collected by 118 registered canvassers. As the number of signatures returned does not meet the required threshold, Elections BC will not take further action on the petition.

The recall proponent, MLA and advertising sponsors must file financial disclosure reports with the Chief Electoral Officer by August 17, 2026.

Thirty-one recall petitions have been issued since the Recall and Initiative Act came into force in 1995. None have met the requirements established by the Act.
