City of Abbotsford earns Best Place to Work award

THE City of Abbotsford has been recognized as a Best Place to Work 2026 by HRD Canada. This award recognizes organizations that demonstrate outstanding employee satisfaction, flexible work practices and a strong commitment to purpose-driven leadership.

“Our people are our most valuable asset and the driving force behind the high-quality services we provide to our community,” said Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens on Monday. “A key priority for Council is to support a workforce that is engaged, safe, and thriving. We are proud to support an environment where employees feel appreciated, supported, and connected to impactful public service, helping make Abbotsford an exceptional place to live, work, play, invest and visit.”

The Best Place to Work award is based on results of an independent third-party employee survey, with recognized organizations achieving a satisfaction rating of 75% or higher in key areas including workplace culture, safety, employee benefits, professional development, diversity and inclusion, and wellness and compensation. The City of Abbotsford achieved an overall compliance rating of 84%.

“This recognition reflects the culture our employees have helped build, one grounded in collaboration, respect, and a shared commitment to serving our community,” said Peter Sparanese, Abbotsford City Manager. “We are intentional about creating a workplace where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow. That strong foundation enables our teams to deliver exceptional service and drive continuous improvement across the organization.”
