THE Correctional Service of Canada says that on August 18 a lockdown was put in place in the medium-security unit at Mission Institution, to allow staff to conduct a search of the institution following an inmate assault.

The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff, and inmates.

Visits were suspended until the search was completed. Normal operations resumed as soon as it was considered safe to do so.
