THE BC NDP on Thursday pointed out that when BC Green Leader Emily Lowan was asked on Wednesday by The Tyee if she could support the Conservatives in a minority government, she replied: “I don’t think we can rule anything out at this point.”
On Thursday morning she told CTV she would “lean” towards the NDP, but did not rule out partnering with the Conservatives.
Tamara Davidson, North Coast BC NDP candidate, said: “I can respect the vision that Emily Lowan has, but I found these comments pretty shocking.
“The BC Conservatives are running a candidate that said that First Nations have to be conquered, have committed to repeal DRIPA, and undermine Indigenous rights. They also have candidates who spread conspiracy theories about climate science and vaccines, and someone who thinks it’s immoral to be gay.
“The damage caused by a Conservative government would be catastrophic. For progressives, the only appropriate response to this question is to rule out putting the Conservatives in power.
“It’s clearer than ever that the way to stop the Conservatives is to vote BC NDP.”
