Assault at New Westminster SkyTrain Station

ON December 25 at approximately 5 p.m., New Westminster Police Department officers responded to a report of an assault at the New Westminster SkyTrain Station. Patrol officers determined that the assault had taken place on the main level in the mall area of the station.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital by BC Emergency Health Services in serious condition. However, he is expected to recover.

This incident is now being investigated by the New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit. The relationship between the suspect and victim is still being investigated by police, but this incident is isolated and it’s believed that there isn’t any increased risk to the public.

“We’re in the early stages of this investigation. Our detectives, alongside our Forensic Identification Unit are working hard to determine what happened,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “We understand there were numerous commuters in the area that may have witnessed this assault, or that may have relevant information. We’re asking those people to come forward to tell us about what they saw.”
