BC Green Party Leader Sonia Furstenau on Tuesday slammed BC Conservative Leader John Rustad for his comments on climate science, calling them “unscientific and dangerous.”
She said: “There is scientific consensus that carbon emissions cause climate change.”
Furstenau added: “I’m also disheartened that he doesn’t think BC can compete when it comes to clean energy innovation – this is an affront to our hardworking and innovative cleantech sector, forward-thinking BC entrepreneurs and every BC kid who dreams of using science to contribute to a better future.”
She also pointed out: “There is also scientific evidence that methane emitted from LNG has 84 times the warming power of carbon dioxide. While the BC NDP may believe in climate science, they are undermining BC’s climate plan by expanding the LNG industry. Only the BC Greens will fight to stop giving billions of dollars to this emissions-heavy industry and go all in on clean energy and cleantech.”
