Burnaby RCMP arrest suspect in last December’s hit-and-run

ON December 11, 2024, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Canada Way and Burris Street.

The victim was crossing the street when a vehicle turning left onto Canada Way eastbound failed to yield and struck the victim. The driver did not remain on scene.

As a result of the collision, a 64-year-old female pedestrian was left with serious injuries.

On January 23, 2025, Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team arrested a 45-year-old Burnaby man in connection to the hit-and-run.

Police said there are no further details to report as the investigation is ongoing.

“Road safety is one of Burnaby RCMP’s top priorities,” said Superintendent Sunny Parmar, Burnaby RCMP’s Operations Officer. “We have been dedicating resources to this investigation since the outset and I am proud of the work that our Criminal Collision Investigation Team and other units have done to forward this investigation. We are thinking of the victim as she continues to recover from her injuries.“
