BURNABY RCMP on Thursday released a sketch of a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted at Stride Avenue Ravine Park in the Edmonds area.

On December 21, 2024, a victim reported to police that she had been grabbed from behind and then sexually assaulted while walking in the park, which is bordered by 18 Avenue, 17 Avenue, Leeside Street and Griffiths Drive.

The sexual assault occurred on November 17, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Since the victim reported the incident, Burnaby RCMP has been pursuing a number of investigative avenues, including extensively canvassing the area and working with partner agencies.

In January, police obtained a detailed suspect description. Investigators are now sharing a suspect sketch for public awareness.

“While our investigators are following leads as they work to identify the suspect, we want the public to be aware of this incident, take look at the sketch, and report any suspicious activity to police,” said Cpl. Laura Hirst with Burnaby RCMP.

The suspect is described as:

  • White male in his 30s
  • Slim build
  • Long, very blonde, messy hair
  • Blonde beard with a notable patch of missing hair on his right cheek
  • Large, prominent ears
  • Crooked yellow teeth

At the time of the assault, the man was believed to be wearing a red jacket and beige track pants.

“The Burnaby RCMP would also like to acknowledge the victim for reporting this incident and for her ongoing cooperation with police. Her courage has helped push this investigation forward,” Hirst added.
