A loud crash prompted calls to the Delta Police Department on November 18 just before 1 a.m.  The crash resulted in a lengthy power outage for parts of North Delta, affecting some BC Hydro customers until mid-day.

Officers located a single-car collision at the corner of River Road and Russell Drive. A black Honda Civic had gone off the road, shearing a wooden power pole in half and coming to rest against a metal lamp post.  The female passenger was transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the male driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the collision.  Investigators are asking for any witnesses or anyone with surveillance video, dash camera video, or Tesla video, to contact them by calling (604) 946-4411 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Callers can reference File 2023-27739.

Any video evidence of the collision, of driving evidence before the collision, or the aftermath of the collision can be uploaded directly to Delta Police’s evidence management system at https://dpd.ca.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/23-27044
