RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) is investigating a shots fired incident at a business in Surrey’s East Cloverdale neighbourhood.
Shortly after 8 a.m. on Monday, January 19, SPOSU officers responded to a report from a business owner that his business, located in the 19300-block Langley Bypass, had been shot at sometime overnight. SPOSU officers have confirmed that the business was damaged by gunfire. The business was not open at the time and there have been no reported injuries.
This is the sixth reported extortion-related shooting in Surrey and the eighth in the Lower Mainland since January 1 (see list below).
SPOSU’s General Investigation Unit (GIU) has assumed conduct of this investigation. At this early stage it is believed to be extortion-related.
