Fatal cyclist-involved collision in Abbotsford

ON Friday, just after 3:30 p.m., Abbotsford Emergency Services responded to a serious collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle in the 2500-block of McCallum Road.

Emergency service workers located the cyclist who had sustained critical injuries. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver involved in the collision remained on scene and is fully cooperating with this investigation. The driver did not sustain any injuries but is very shaken by this incident, police said.

Abbotsford Police patrol officers, with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service (ICARS), remain on scene and are in the early stages of this investigation. Both directions of McCallum Road Road are currently closed between Braun Avenue and South Fraser Way. Abbotsford Police will provide an update on its social media once the road re-opens.
