Ontario Provincial Police alert Inderjeet Singh Gosal about danger to his life
THE FBI’s Sacramento office is supporting the California Highway Patrol in its investigation into the attempted assassination of Satinder Pal Singh Raju, a close associate of slain Khalistan advocate Hardeep Singh Nijjar of Surrey, on Interstate 505 near San Francisco on August 11.
The Reuters news agency reports that FBI agents interviewed Raju, of Woodland, California, and his friend who was driving the truck when they and another passenger were targeted.
Raju told Reuters that their truck went into a ditch as they tried to escape. The victims hid in a nearby field and called police. They were later informed by police that at least five shell casings were recovered from the crime scene.
The news agency says that both the FBI and the California Highway Patrol confirmed the shooting took place.
The Sikhs For Justice first reported the incident on August 19 when Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, General Counsel to the organization, announced it on X. The VOICE reported the incident the same day.
“After the drive by shooting in Brampton, Canada at the house of Inderjeet Singh Gosal, the Canadian Organizer of Khalistan Referendum, Sunday [August 11] night assassination attempt against Raju is the most recent violent attack against Khalistan Referendum campaigner in North America,” Sikhs For Justice said.
Nijjar was assassinated on June 18, 2023, in a parking lot of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara where he served as president.
ON Tuesday, Global News reported that Gosal told them that the Ontario Provincial Police visited his Brampton home after midnight on Friday to notify him he was the subject of a “duty to warn” notice.
Gosal was not at home and an officer later phoned to tell him he was at risk. Police advised him to be vigilant and report anything suspicious, Global News said.
Earlier this year, on February 12, shots were fired at a Brampton house under construction that belongs to Gosal.
At the time, the Sikhs For Justice said in a press release that “the shooting comes days after Gosal announced the Khalistan Freedom Rally at the Indian Consulate [in] Toronto on 17th February to commemorate the 8th month of Nijjar’s assassination and to support the Trudeau Government in the ongoing standoff with India on this issue.”
MEANWHILE, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told the media last Sunday in Halifax. Nova Scotia, where he met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet, that “the US and Canada have cooperated at every level: law enforcement, intelligence, and diplomatic, and we will continue to do so,” when he was asked if there had been any developments in the Nijjar assassination case.
Sullivan added: “As you know, and as we have said publicly, and briefed Congress on, we had an attempted assassination in the United States as well. It was a tragedy what happened in Canada, I know there are ongoing law enforcement proceedings, investigations, and so I will be careful in exactly how much I say, but I can say that we have good cooperation and coordination on these issues and we take a very firm line on the question of attempted or actualized assassinations of individuals in our two countries, and it is our joint commitment along with other allies, to stand firmly against that.”
