FortisBC: Gas meter damaged in Surrey

FORTISBC says its crews are responding to a damaged natural gas meter caused by a motor vehicle accident on 66 Avenue in Surrey on Thursday afternoon.

“This is not a gas leak,” it added.

“Our crews are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore natural gas service to customers who have been impacted.

“We don’t yet have an estimated time as to when repairs will be complete but updates will be provided here: Service alert (fortisbc.com)

“Public and employee safety is the number one priority for FortisBC. We would like to remind everyone that if you smell rotten eggs or hear the sound of escaping gas, stop what you’re doing, go outside and dial 9-1-1 or call FortisBC’s 24-hour emergency line.”
