GAJINDER Shokeen, 24, has had charges approved against him following an incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 26 in Surrey’s City Centre neighbourhood where he allegedly threatened bystanders with a weapon.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., Surrey Police Service frontline officers responded to reports of a man who was allegedly threatening people with a weapon. Officers arrived and attempted to take the man into custody, but the man refused to comply with officer’s orders to drop the weapon and officers used a less-lethal impact weapon to gain compliance and were able to safely take the man into custody.
Shokeen has been charged with one count each of:
- Resisting or obstructing peace officers in the lawful execution of their duty
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
He has been remanded in custody until a future court date can be set.
