INTEGRATED Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) investigators on Friday released video of a person of interest in a recent homicide investigation.

On January 20, Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 22200-block of 123 Avenue in Maple Ridge. Frontline officers located an 18-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene of a collision. A short time later, police received a call of a vehicle on fire in the 20800-block of 123 Avenue that is believed to be linked to the shooting.

On January 25, the victim of the shooting succumbed to his injuries. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and has continued to work closely in partnership with Ridge Meadows RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).

IHIT investigators are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in the homicide investigation. Photographs of the person obtained from a store in Mission shortly before the murder on January 20 are being shared in hopes that someone will recognize the man.

The person of interest is described as a white man in his 20’s, light brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a Vans “Get out and get lost” hoodie and black pants with a red accent on the left leg.

“We’re asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this individual, who we believe has critical information that can help further our investigation,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti. “Six months ago, an 18-year old boy was killed. IHIT remains dedicated to bringing justice for his family and the community.”
