ON May 3, Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, Officer-in-Charge of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), while announcing that Indian nationals Karan Brar, 22, Kamalpreet Singh, 22, and Karanpreet Singh, 28, had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the June 18, 2023 homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the parking lot of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara where he served as president, had asserted: “The investigation does not end here. We are aware that there could be others out there that played a role in this homicide and we remain dedicated to identifying and arresting each one of them.”

Eight days later, on Saturday, May 11, IHIT announced that it has arrested a fourth individual who has since been charged for his role in Nijjar’s homicide: 22-year-old Amandeep Singh, an Indian national.

Amandeep Singh was already in custody for unrelated firearms charges by Peel Regional Police.  IHIT said it pursued the evidence and gained sufficient information for the BC Prosecution Service to charge him with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He resided in Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford.

IHIT recognized the efforts and support of its partners, specifically the Abbotsford Police Department and the Central Region RCMP, in assisting it to mitigate a significant public safety risk related to Amandeep Singh.

“This arrest shows the nature of our ongoing investigation to hold responsible those that played a role in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” said Mooker.

IHIT released a photo of Amandeep Singh in an effort to further advance the investigation. Photos of the other three accused and their associated Toyota Corolla were released on May 3. Anyone who may have information on these individuals or this vehicle is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

As this matter is currently still under investigation and before the courts, no additional information can be provided, IHIT said.
