“Whether it’s the mismanagement of the Temporary Foreign Worker program, the need for more RCMP in Surrey, staggering youth unemployment, the need for decent paying jobs or long wait times for family reunification, the Conservatives have failed Canada and it’s time for a change,” said Sims. “I’m proud to represent people in Newton-North Delta and I’m excited to continue that work as the MP for Surrey-Newton.”
Sims says she and her team are gearing up for the 2015 election campaign, a fight in which Tom Mulcair’s New Democrats will take on Stephen Harper’s Conservatives in the fight for government.
Since being elected in 2011, Sims has served as the NDP’s Immigration Critic and currently she serves as NDP’s Employment and Social Development Critic. The file has seen Sims take on a high profile battle with the Conservative Government over the broken Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
Among those present at the meeting were former BC NDP president Moe Sihota, NDP MLAs Harry Bains and Sue Hammell and former NDP MLA Jagrup Brar.
