Loaded firearm seized by Surrey RCMP

THE Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team (SGET) seized a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in Port Kells area.

On July 8 at 6:26 p.m., officers from the SGET stopped a vehicle in the 18600-block of 88 Avenue after observing a motor vehicle infraction. Further investigation lead to a seizure of small amount of drugs and a loaded firearm.

The 25-year-old male driver was arrested and released at the scene pending further investigation.

The firearm along with a knife, bear spray, suspected MDMA, digital video recorder, cell phones and the 2018 Ford F150 vehicle were seized as offense-related property. The investigation remains ongoing as investigators work to complete the analysis of seized items and submit a report to BC Prosecution Service for charge approval.
