Lowan says a BC Conservative government would be disastrous for province

BC Green Leader Emily Lowan, reacting to the BC NDP’s claim that the BC Greens would form a minority government should the Conservatives be elected, said: “Let me be clear: a Conservative government would be disastrous for this province.”

She added: “The Conservatives’ promises mean two things: debt that keeps on climbing, and cuts to healthcare, childcare, and services everyday people depend on.

“The reprehensible statements from various Conservative candidates have no place in B.C. We believe in a B.C. where everyone belongs, whatever their background, identity, or faith. We have always fought for a province where people look out for each other, and where no one has to wonder whether they’re welcome.

“If the Conservatives form government, the BC Greens will fight an austerity and culture war agenda every step of the way. We will keep putting forward real solutions to build a province where working people can afford to live and ensure they get care when they need it. That’s what we’ve done every day of this campaign, and it’s what we’ll keep doing every day after election day.

“No matter who forms government after Saturday, we will hold their feet to the fire to stand up for working people, marginalized communities, and our province.

“If anyone has helped the Conservatives, it’s David Eby calling this unnecessary election.”
