Mahan Chhoker charged with committing several arsons in Brampton

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police officers from the 21 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid numerous charges against a man, for committing several arsons in the City of Brampton. 

Between Sunday, April 5 and Monday, April 6, police and Brampton Fire and Emergency Services responded to five separate garbage can fires, which were set near bus shelters in the area of Tomken Road and Steeles Avenue in Brampton.

Officers have since arrested a 54-year-old man from Brampton in relation to the arsons. Mahan Chhoker of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

* Arson – Damage to property (five counts)
* Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)
* Breach of release conditions (two counts)

Chhoker appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on April 8 in answer to these charges.
