Male youth sexually assaulted in North Vancouver park

NORTH Vancouver RCMP are warning the public after receiving a report on February 25 of a youth who was sexually assaulted inside a public washroom.

On Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m., the male youth had stopped at the Inter River park located at 1101 Premier Street in North Vancouver to use the public restrooms. While the youth was using the urinals, the suspect approached and sexually assaulted him from behind. The victim was able to strike the suspect who then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a man, between 30 and 50 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium to large build, wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.

“Police are taking this incident very seriously, actively investigating all leads and are issuing a public alert for the safety of the community,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for North Vancouver RCMP. “This investigation is being led by our Special Victims Unit and we commend the victim for coming forward to report this incident.”

It was reported that at the time of incident, there were several people at the park near the BMX race track. If you were at the park or in the area at around 3 p.m. on February 23 and witnessed a suspicious person, you’re asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file 24-3591.
