Man arrested for alleged assault on camera operator during February 2022 border protests

SURREY RCMP announced on Friday that charges have been laid in relation to the assault of a member of the media at the Pacific Highway border protests last February.

On February 19, 2022, during a protest near 8 Avenue and 176 Street in Surrey, it is alleged that a camera operator who was filming the crowd was assaulted.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit took conduct of the file and through an extensive investigation were able to identify a suspect, said Cpl. Vanessa Munn, Media Relations Officer, Surrey RCMP.

On February 15, 2023, 56-year-old Vojislav Zmukic of Coquitlam was charged with one count of assault. He was later arrested and released on an undertaking with a court date in March 2023.
