A man has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment in relation to a violent Heritage Woods home invasion, Port Moody Police said on Wednesday.
In July 2024, Tsz Wing Boaz Chan (Chan) was arrested and charged in connection to the targeted home invasion that took place April 27, 2024. It was determined the motive was to steal cryptocurrency.
Chan later pleaded guilty to break-and-enter, sexual assault and forcible confinement. On Friday, November 14, Chan was sentenced by a judge in Port Coquitlam Law Courts to a total of seven years of imprisonment, along with a DNA order, a weapons prohibition, and a $50,000 restitution order. Chan has been in custody since he was initially arrested and will receive credit for time already served.
“Major Crime detectives worked tirelessly to bring this matter before the courts,” said Constable Sam Zacharias, adding that “Mr. Chan did not operate alone and the matter remains active as investigators still work to identify other suspects.”
