UPDATE – FOUND: Missing South Asian man: Melvin Gokool

UPDATE: VANCOUVER Police announced around 6:45 p.m. on Monday that shortly after 6 p.m. Melvin Gokool was found at a bus stop in Surrey after being spotted by a concerned citizen. He is currently being reunited with his family and is on his way home, safe and sound.

VANCOUVER Police are continuing their search for a missing man who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

Fifty-eight year-old Melvin Gokool was last seen at the entrance to Granville Island around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday when he became separated from his family.

Gokool has Alzheimer’s, but it may not appear that he is confused or in distress unless he is engaged in a conversation.

Gokool is South Asian, 5’6″ tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has a medium complexion and short salt and pepper hair that is balding on top. He is clean shaven and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a white zip up vest with a short sleeve, white and blue plaid shirt and white cargo pants that were unzipped at the knees to make shorts.

Anyone who sees Melvin Gokool is asked to call 911 and stay with him until help arrives.
