NEW Westminster Police arrested a suspect connected to six different break-and-enter investigations. One of these investigations began in an underground parking garage where police found 10 different vehicles broken into. At present, 40 charges will be recommended to Crown counsel. The suspect was also found to be breaching several court ordered conditions.
This investigation was led by the New Westminster Police Department Street Crime Unit, and supported by patrol officers, the Forensic Identification Unit, and the Criminal Intelligence Unit. The suspect remains in police custody.
“I’d say to criminals that New Westminster is not the place,” said Media Relations Officer Sgt. Andrew Leaver on Thursday. “These teams are the best at what they do. You can try to cover your tracks. It won’t work.”
The New Westminster Police Department said it is grateful to the citizens and resident managers who take the time to report break-and-enters and assist police in their work. Additionally, officers would like to remind residents about the importance of calling 9-1-1 when they see what they believe to be a break-and-enter in progress.
