NORTH Vancouver RCMP are investigating two separate collisions that occurred late Saturday evening.

On June 22 at approximately 10 p.m., police received a report from the BC Ambulance Service of a serious single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

Several motorists reported witnessing a rider travelling eastbound along Low Level Road at an excessive speed before ultimately losing control of the vehicle and hitting a concrete retaining wall. Sadly, the male rider, a North Vancouver resident in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“This was an extremely tragic incident and we’d like to express our sincere condolences to the man’s family during this difficult time,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, spokesperson for the North Vancouver RCMP. “The investigation is currently ongoing and the North Vancouver RCMP Victim Services unit has been engaged to support those who have been affected by this tragedy.”

Low Level Road was closed for several hours following the collision as the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) conducted an analysis of the scene and gathered evidence.

Shortly afterwards, at approximately 11:45 p.m., emergency crews were called to another crash involving a pedestrian on Highway 1 near the Mount Seymour Parkway exit.

It is alleged that a white sedan traveling westbound struck a woman wearing dark clothing as she was attempting to cross the highway. The woman was taken to hospital in serious condition. The driver is cooperating with the investigation, and police do not believe speed or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

“We are appealing to any witnesses who may have captured dash cam footage of this incident that were travelling eastbound or westbound between 11:30 p.m. and 12 a.m. on June 22,” said Sahak. “If you have video or are a witness who has not already spoken with police, please call us at 604-985-1311 and quote file #24-12230.”
