NORTH Vancouver RCMP are looking to speak with several good Samaritans that assisted an elderly man that was struck during a hit-and-run last Friday.
On March 1 at approximately 11:15 a.m., the senior was hit by a dark blue or black SUV while inside a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Ridgewood Drive and Sunset Boulevard. The vehicle was travelling westbound and as a result of the impact, the man fell to the ground where he sustained minor injuries.
While reporting the incident to police on Monday, March 4, the man stated that he received assistance from multiple witnesses at the scene. This included two males that helped to clear the intersection and two females that assisted in transporting him to Lions Gate Hospital for medical treatment.
Police are now in the process of investigating the incident and would like to speak with these witnesses in an effort to help identify the suspect vehicle involved.
“This was a frightening situation for the victim and we’re immensely thankful for the kind-hearted and immediate actions of these witnesses,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak of North Vancouver RCMP. “In an effort to further our investigation, we’d like to speak with these individuals and are asking them to come forward by calling us at (604) 985-1311 and quoting file #24-4102.”
