ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau’s Vice Unit have arrested and charged two individuals from Brampton with human trafficking and prostitution-related offences.
On September 13, officers commenced a complex investigation relating to victims involved in the sex trade within the Region of Peel.
It is alleged that the accused and co-accused recruited and exploited victims into the sex trade while keeping their earnings from them. Vice investigators conducted a proactive investigation, which resulted in locating victims being trafficked by the accused and co-accused.
23-year-old Mohd Farhan is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Human trafficking
- Exercise control
- Receiving benefits resulting from trafficking in persons
- Procuring
- Derive material benefit from sexual services
44-year-old Jagrutiben Bhatt is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Human trafficking
- Exercise control (two counts)
- Receiving benefits resulting from trafficking in persons
- Advertise sexual services (two counts)
- Procuring (two counts)
- Material benefit from sexual services (two counts)
