ONTARIO: Peel Police seize illegal firearm during traffic stop, arrest three South Asians

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police officers from 21 Division’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) seized an illegal firearm during a traffic stop in Brampton, bringing the number of illegal firearms seized by Peel Regional Police this year to 112.

On Monday, August 10, at approximately 2:20 a.m., police investigated a vehicle in the area of Cedarbrook Road and Edgewater Court. Officers observed three occupants in the vehicle and during the interaction, one of the occupant’s provided officers with a false name before fleeing the area on foot.

Officers searched the vehicle and located a loaded illegal handgun with a magazine containing ammunition.

The individual who fled was later located in another area and arrested. Police subsequently learned he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Alberta.

29-year-old Navjot Singh of Innisfail, Alberta, 29-year-old Harkomal Singh of Brampton, and 23- year-old Mohobbatbir Randhawa of Brampton, are each charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Tampering with Serial Number of Firearm

Navjot Singh is additionally charged with:

Obstruct Peace Officer
Fail to Comply with Undertaking
