Over 500% more trees will be planted by Surrey residents through this year’s tree sales

SINCE the inception of Surrey’s Love Where You Live campaign in 2019, Surrey has seen a huge increase in the popularity of tree and bulb planting events. The City’s tree sale has proven to be so popular that it has been expanded from a single event to four events a year. With the 2022 Love Where You Live campaign kicking off next month, residents will have a second opportunity to purchase a variety of trees, including maples, magnolias and fruit trees for $20 per tree.

“Planting a tree goes hand in hand with Surrey’s Love Where You Live campaign,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum. “That’s why we have decided to expand the City’s tree sale to four times a year. A total of 3,600 trees will be made available to our residents over the four events. If the first tree sale of the year is any indication, every one of the 3,600 trees for sale will find a new home. This represents a 500% increase in trees that will be planted through this initiative, and it proves just how committed our residents are to helping the environment and creating welcoming neighbourhoods.”

Love Where You Live launches on April 22 and the following day the second tree sale will open up to Surrey residents.  To learn more about Surrey’s tree sale and the Love Where You Live campaign, visit surrey.ca
