ON Friday at approximately 2:40 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision in the 14000-block of 96 Avenue. A private bus was traveling eastbound on 96 Avenue from 140 Street when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street at the intersection.

The male pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the private bus remained on scene and is cooperating with police. The investigation is still in the very early stages, but alcohol and speed do not currently appear to be contributing factors to the collision, police said.
