ON Tuesday, August 12 just before 7:30 a.m., Port Moody Police Department and other first responders were called to the train crossing at Reed Point Marina for a report of a collision involving a pick-up truck and the West Coast Express train.

Police said initial information suggests the driver of the vehicle failed to yield at the train crossing and was struck by the westbound train. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital.

The train carrying commuters was stopped on the tracks for approximately an hour while first responders managed the scene. The train then carried on.

The investigation has now been passed on to the CPKC Police Service.
