Pierre Poilievre to run from Alberta as he tries to stay on as leader

CONSERVATIVE Leader Pierre Poilievre very arrogantly said in a post on X in 2023: “In the real world, if you don’t do your job you lose it.”

Now, after the humiliating defeat of both the Conservative Party and Poilievre, who lost his Ontario riding of Carleton, Poilievre and his supporters are desperately trying to save his job.

Even as those who are determined to replace Poilievre with a leader who will not turn off Canadians by abrasive behaviour are preparing their moves, Polievre and his group are moving as quickly as possible to try and consolidate his position by getting him elected from a safe riding in Alberta. But other Conservatives feel that Poilievre needs to go and their movement is bound to pick up steam ultimately.

So, on Friday, the Conservatives announced that Damien Kurek, who was re-elected in Battle River—Crowfoot with nearly 82 per cent of the vote, would resign his seat.

Kurek said in a statement: “Although it will be hard to temporarily step away from this role, in this region I love and have always called home, the mandate given to me is one that clearly states that change is needed. Offering this seat to our Party Leader is an important step in that process.”

Pierre Poilievre: Canadians did not want his type of change.

Poilievre then posted the following statment on X: “It is with humility and appreciation that I have accepted Damien Kurek’s offer to resign his seat in Battle River-Crowfoot so that I can work to earn the support of citizens there to serve them in Parliament.

“Damien’s selfless act to step aside temporarily as a Member of Parliament shows his commitment to change and restoring Canada’s promise.

“I will work to earn the trust of the good people of Battle River-Crowfoot and I will continue to hold the Liberal minority government to account until the next federal election, when we will bring real change to all Canadians.”

Canadians are wondering what happened to Poilievre’s confidence and big talk.
