PORT Moody Police are investigating an early morning fire.

On August 7 just before 5 a.m., Port Moody Fire Rescue was called to a townhouse fire in the 2000-block of Panorama Drive. Firefighters tacked the blaze quickly which affected multiple units. However, three people sustained injuries and were transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

“Initial information suggests this fire may be suspicious in nature,” said Constable Sam Zacharias. “Our Major Crime Detectives are currently on scene investigating the fire. Anyone with information is asked to contact us.”

Port Moody Fire Rescue said in a tweet that their crews rescued three occupants from balconies. Multiple pets were rescued as well. An off-duty Surrey firefighter also joined in the rescue.
